Frequently asked questions

How does the Schengen 90/180 rule work?+

Non-EU visitors can spend up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period across all Schengen countries combined. On any given day, look back over that day and the previous 179 days: the number of days you were present must not exceed 90.

Do entry and exit days both count?+

Yes. Under the Schengen Borders Code any part of a day spent in the area counts as a full day, so both the day you arrive and the day you leave are counted.

Does the 90-day count reset every 180 days?+

No. The window rolls forward daily. Days drop out of the window individually exactly 180 days after they were spent, which is why a fixed reset date does not exist.

Does time in Ireland, Cyprus or the UK count?+

No. Ireland and Cyprus are EU members but not part of the Schengen area, so days there do not count toward your 90. The UK is outside both.

Is my trip data stored anywhere?+

Your stays are saved only in your own browser's local storage. All calculations run on your device and nothing is uploaded.

What happens if I overstay?+

Overstays can lead to fines, detention, removal and entry bans of up to five years recorded in the Schengen Information System. The new Entry/Exit System records your stays digitally.
